First Things First…
The Initial Phone Call
When your patients call to schedule an initial examination, we will schedule their appointment at a convenient time. All true emergency patients are seen the same day. We perform whatever treatment is necessary to alleviate the patient’s discomfort at the emergency appointment.
When necessary, some patients must return for completion of treatment at a later date. During the initial phone call, we ask patients for their dental insurance information and medical information so that we can determine their insurance benefits for endodontic care before their appointment. This minimizes the time the patient spends in our office.
The Initial Evaluation and Consultation
After having the patient complete a medical history, we review the data with them in detail and discuss any health concerns they may have. This also helps us specialize our treatment for diabetics or patients with heart murmurs, as well as others who may need to be pre-medicated. At this time, the appropriate radiographs are taken if the patient does not have recent films. A report will be sent to your office with a final radiograph and any recommendations Dr. Tao may have.
During the initial consultation, Dr. Tao will meet with the patient in a comfortable consulting room. She examines the patient and thoroughly explains her findings and discusses the procedures for the recommended treatment. It is explained that the patient will need to return to their general dentist for a permanent restoration.
We feel that the key to long term success with a patient is to take the “unknown” out of endodontic care by providing information and education. It is our goal to give the patient a full understanding of the benefits of good dental care. We achieve this goal by discussing whatever additional treatment the patient may need to take care of the problem.
We also discuss any alternative treatment, as well as the potential risks and complications associated with their treatment. We explain these parameters through the use of educational materials.

Testimonial from Dr. Janice B
Liwen Tao did a root canal for me several years ago, and it was a very pleasant experience. Like most dentists, I had diagnosed my own problem — my first molar needed a root canal. Dr Tao did a thorough exam, then very politely told me it was my second molar that needed treatment. I told her I was certain it was my first molar. She said “trust me” and did a root canal on my second molar. Both teeth have been just fine since! I’ve told that story to many of my patients, and we just chuckle about it.
Dr Liwen Tao is always my first choice for a root canal specialist for my patients. She is very pleasant and kind, and does beautiful work. Her staff is very easy to work with and my patients are seen in a very timely manner.
I feel that we are very fortunate to have an endodontist of Liwen Tao’s caliber in our community. I recommend her highly.

Testimonial from Mary B.I have a very small mouth but needed a molar root canal. No other dentists wanted to work on me. Dr Tao did my root canal with her small hands and gentle touch.

Testimonial from Dr. Linda JI often tell my patients my story of root canal therapy. Dr Tao did a root canal on me several years ago. She did the work painlessly and I felt so good afterward that I shopped for 3 hours at a Talbot’s sale! Anyone who’s been to those sales knows you have to be in good shape to weather a sale!
My tooth’s been great ever since. Dr Tao’s kindness and expertise make her terrific. I send all my root canal patients to her without hesitation. She’s great!
